The financial partner most small businesses can't get in-house.
JMC is an outsourced management accounting and financial analysis service, built for business owners who don't have the budget, or the access, to a person with this skill set and these systems on staff.
What is a management accountant?
An internal accountant focused solely on making sure management has the right reports, data, and models to oversee the business and analyse its financials. It isn't about compliance or following accounting standards — it's about making sure the data is right for you and your business.
Works alongside your tax adviser. JMC does not complete tax returns or BAS.

A financial partner, not just a set of books.
Why JMC exists, what we're working towards, and the principles behind how we work with clients.
There's a genuine need for higher-level management accounting support in small and medium business — a market for financial support that helps SMEs manage cash flow, analyse and project the business, and get analytical guidance through key business situations. Most owners simply don't have access to an analyst who can help guide and model that support, whether that's down to budget or not having the right skill set and systems in-house.
The result is that a lot of good businesses run on compliance-grade reporting. It satisfies the ATO. It doesn't tell the owner what happened last month, or give them the insight to work out what to do next.
JMC exists to close that gap. We act as a financial partner to your business: someone genuinely across your numbers, who works with you to model growth, and who makes sure you're getting the right data to stay on top of the business — not just the basics.
Our vision is to elevate the standard of accounting support available to small and medium business.
How we think about the work
What you can expect from JMC as a financial partner — not just what we do, but how and why.
Partnership
01In practice, that means helping set up the right reports and financial controls, so we're accurately across every number that matters. From there we stay close to the detail — reviewing your reports and figures every month — so you can focus on the operational side of the business knowing the financial arm is covered.
It also means being available when something comes up. When you're weighing a new asset, a new division or a change in pricing, we can model it with you before you commit.
Relationships and clarity
02We build genuine relationships with you and your business, provide accurate and reliable data, and take the time to explain what that data actually means for you.
Numbers only create value once they're understood. We go the extra mile to make sure every result makes sense, and that you're extracting the right insights from it.
Reliability
03We work hard to deliver great results and we hold ourselves to a high standard: doing the work properly, communicating honestly, and being someone you can rely on.
Your numbers — and your business — are looked after with the transparency and care they deserve.

What it involves, and why each part matters.
The six components
This is the standing monthly scope. It's refined during onboarding to fit how your business actually operates, and revisited as circumstances change.
Monthly management reports
Profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow, prepared on an accruals basis so each month reflects that month's activity. Alongside them sits the non-financial reporting your business needs — the operational metrics that explain why the financials moved.
Every client has a documented data analysis run sheet: a written method for how their financials are reviewed each month, specific to their business. It's how we make sure nothing gets skipped and the same questions get asked every period.
Monthly financial analysis
We analyse key deviations against trend and budget before you see the reports, then send that written analysis with them each month. You're notified of red flags in the numbers rather than left to find them.
The analysis is the product. The reports are how we get there.
Annual dynamic budget
Annual business targets that set the benchmark for management reporting, built from the real drivers of your business and updated dynamically as circumstances change.
Once it's live, a budget variance report runs every month, with our diagnosis of what caused each material deviation and what that means for your business.
Rolling forecast
A 3-way forecast — cash flow, profit & loss and balance sheet — refreshed each month so you can track trajectory and see your cash runway on a live model, rather than a guess.
These projections are what we work through together in your monthly or quarterly meeting, and what we build on for any ad hoc analytics or scenario modelling. The model is also yours to use in between, so you can play with it whenever you want a quick read on where things are heading.
Monthly or quarterly meetings
To review the results, work through the forecast, refine the service as circumstances change, and identify further analysis opportunities.
Part of that conversation is the cash runway — where the cash position is heading, and when pressure will arrive, months before it does. We also run the forecast for each month ahead against budget, so the question moves from "how did we go?" to whether there's a way to improve on budget from here, or whether we're already on track to land under it.
We also use the meeting to go over what's happening in the business, and to check the reporting controls are still in the right place to produce the data you need. Businesses change. Reporting that isn't revisited stops matching them.
Ad hoc analytics
Implementing tools to help you manage the finances more regularly, building custom reports, or modelling a specific data set or scenario as it comes up — a new asset, a new division, a pricing change or a hiring plan, with the impact on your key metrics seen before you commit.
Because the underlying model already exists, most one-off questions can be answered quickly rather than rebuilt from scratch.
